JANE CRAWFORD
JANE CRAWFORD INTERIORS
I’ve been making handmade curtains and blinds for 10 years and have a level 3 Diploma in Professional Soft Furnishings and Curtain Making from the National Design Academy.
I’ve always loved fabric and interiors. In the 1980’s I designed my bedroom as a 10 year old. I chose everything from the wallpaper, paint colour, curtains, bedding and furniture. I love that I now decades on, I do this for a job. For me there’s great satisfaction in helping a client transform a room.
My love of photography plays a big part in the business. Clients like to see their project at different stages in the workroom, as it shows the attention to detail that goes into every job. Therefore the photographs I take from rolling out the fabric on the worktable, to close up shots of hand sewn mitres, through to the final installation, give people visual ideas and inspiration for their own home.
I have a City and Guilds in Photography. Had a career as a wedding photographer. I have about 30,000 photos of my children! So photography and keen eye for detail is key to my work.
I’m a keen supporter of British design and manufacture. From the big names such as Sanderson, to smaller, bespoke manufacturers and weavers like Sarah Hardaker and Zoe Glencross.
I believe that our homes tell stories about us and should reflect the people who live there. Each room should portray the passions, interests and lifestyle of the family. Home is where we love to be and the soft furnishings should complement the interior. Because of that it will make you smile every day.
